🇩🇪 Types of Student Visas for Germany

  1. Student Applicant Visa (Visum zur Studienbewerbung)

    • For those who haven't yet been admitted to a university.

    • Valid for 3 months (can be extended up to 6 months in Germany).

  2. Student Visa (Visum zu Studienzwecken)

    • For those already admitted to a German university.

    • Typically valid for 3 months; must be converted to a residence permit after arrival.

  3. Language Course Visa

    • For those attending an intensive German language course (not for degree studies).


Main Requirements

  • University Admission Letter (or confirmation of application)

  • Valid Passport

  • Proof of Financial Resources

    • Usually via a blocked account showing approx. €11,208/year (as of 2024)

  • Proof of Health Insurance

    • Public or private German health insurance

  • Academic Transcripts and Certificates
